About MAMIYA

From Mamiya Wiki

Welcome to the MAMIYA Wiki! Our aim is to be a resource for fans and potential fans of the video game MAMIYA - A Shared Illusion of the World’s End - (世界滅亡共有幻想マミヤ Sekai Metsubou Kyouyuu Gensou Mamiya, lit. Shared Illusion of the World’s Downfall Mamiya), developed by indie game developer KENKOU LAND and published by Fruitbat Factory.

What is MAMIYA about?

MAMIYA is a story-heavy visual novel with minimal gameplay elements, similar to the likes of the When They Cry series or The House in Fata Morgana. Its main genres are drama, psychological horror, and mystery. The Steam page surmises the plot as follows:

MAMIYA is a captivating, dark visual novel in which a group of young men struggle against existential dread before the end of the world.

The game contains mature content that may be unsuitable for players under 16 years of age. For more detailed content warnings, see What content warnings does MAMIYA have? For information about whether or not you, personally, might enjoy MAMIYA, see Should I play MAMIYA?

Where can I buy MAMIYA? What does it include?

MAMIYA (Windows) is available for purchase from the following storefronts:

Purchasing the game from these storefronts will get you the first two parts of MAMIYA's story, "FallDown" and "DownFall." The third part, "DoomsDay Dreams," is added to the base game via DLC, provided that you have bought the game through Steam. The team at Fruitbat Factory are still trying to determine how to incorporate DoomsDay Dreams onto the DRM free versions.

For all parts, you will be able to play MAMIYA in both the original Japanese text and the English translation by Fruitbat Factory.

For information about whether or not you might enjoy MAMIYA, see Should I play MAMIYA?

Does MAMIYA have a free demo?

Yes! If you are unsure if you want to purchase the full game, you can download a free demo of the game first. You can find the demo for both Windows and Mac on the following sites:

The demo covers the first part of the game, FallDown, and contains a preview of the third part, DoomsDay Dreams. If you decide to purchase the full game after playing the demo, you can import your save files from the demo to the full version of the game, although you may have to manually rename the files for the saves to be usable.

How many parts does MAMIYA have?

MAMIYA has three parts. Although the base game gives you the option to start at FallDown or DownFall, the intended order is to play FallDown first. The three parts are as follows:

  1. FallDown: An introduction to the world and characters. Primarily follows the stories of Kikuchi Ryou, Toujou Minato, Morichika Haruki, and Suou Keito.
  2. DownFall: A deeper delve into the mystery. Primarily follows the Protagonist.
  3. DoomsDay Dreams: The resolution of the story.

Is there a recommended route order for MAMIYA?

As long as you play FallDown first, then not really. MAMIYA also doesn't have any complex choices that would warrant a guide.

FallDown

There are four routes in FallDown: Kikuchi Ryou, Toujou Minato, Morichika Haruki, and Suou Keito. It does not matter what order you complete them in. However, it is recommended that you save Suou Keito's route for last, as his route is the most confusing.

DownFall

In DownFall, it does not matter what order you complete the routes for Kikuchi Ryou, Toujou Minato, Morichika Haruki, and Suou Keito, although again, it is recommended that you save Suou Keito's for last.

After getting all four of these endings, you will get the option for the last two routes. On the way to these two endings, you will have the option to select between four characters' interludes. It does not matter what order you view these interludes, although it is recommended that you view the last character's interlude last. Which interlude you choose to watch does not impact the endings at all, so you can go back and view the other characters' interludes whenever you want.

Should I play MAMIYA?

The MAMIYA Wiki staff recommends this game for players who are seeking:

  • A dark, story-rich experience
  • An exploration of how trauma, death, and grief affect people
  • A visual novel with a majority-male cast that is not a BL or otome game
  • A story with LGBT themes that is not a romance
  • A visual novel experience similar to Umineko no Naku Koro ni
  • A meticulously crafted mystery scenario that rewards the observant
  • Male angst/Boys With Problems
  • An intriguing protagonist/villain relationship
  • Stunning artwork
  • A "heartwarming Christmas tale"
